Alison St John (Guest Host): The steroid hearing for Tour de France cycling champion Floyd Landis has taken an unexpected turn. The case began as a straightforward scientific argument over whether the tests showing that Landis took banned synthetic testosterone were reliable or not. But half way through the trial, science was pushed to the back of the pack as allegations of blackmail surfaced and issues of sexual abuse took the lead.
Union-Tribune Sports Reporter Mark Zeigler has been covering the 10 days of hearings at Pepperdine University in Malibu, not far from the drama of Hollywood and Los Angeles.
Closing arguments in the hearing to determine whether cyclist Floyd Landis took banned substances will be heard at a later date yet to be determined. A decision from the three-man arbitration panel will come in the coming weeks or months.
