Studies Show Link Between Breast Cancer and Everyday Chemicals

Alison St John (Guest Host): More than 15,000 research studies have explored whether breast cancer might be on the increase because of something in our diet. Only 150 studies worldwide have examined whether there are links between exposure to chemicals in the environment and the chances of developing breast cancer. What makes it all the more interesting is that five research institutions have recently concluded common chemicals found in the home may be a cause of breast cancer.

Julia Brody led a team of researchers who reviewed hundreds of existing studies and have come up with a list of chemicals that are linked to breaks cancer. Julia is the executive director of the Spring Institute, a non-profit in Massachusetts dedicated to discovering the links between environmental pollutants and women’s health.
