California State Senator Charged With Reckless Driving

A California State Senator has been charged with a misdemeanor for an erratic driving episode that ended in a collision on highway 12 near Fairfield (in the Bay area).   From Sacramento, Marianne Russ reports.

Bay area Democrat Carole Migden pleaded no contest to one count of reckless driving. She was ordered to pay $710 in fines and court fees, and will be on informal probation for two years.

She also has until October 9th to report to the Solano county jail to be booked -- but she'll be immediately released.

Back in May, Migden rear-ended a car on highway 12. The Highway patrol had received calls from several drivers complaining that Migden was driving erratically.

In a statement, Migden said “I have always accepted full responsibility for the accident I caused.”

She also said her doctors determined the accident was a result of a medical condition. She recently revealed she has leukemia and is taking medication to manage it.
