San Diego Opera's Campbell Mourns Death of Pavarotti
San Diego Opera's Ian Campbell is mourning the death of his friend and colleague, Luciano Pavarotti . Campbell says the Italian tenor's death is a tragedy for music lovers around the world.
Pavarotti made his San Diego Opera debut in 1980, singing La Boheme. He also performed at the Sports Arena three times.
Campbell first met the Italian singer in the sixties. He says he knew he was hearing one of the greatest voices the world had ever heard. Campell describes Pavarotti's voice as "the color of Mediterranean sunshine."
