Southern California on Flood Watch as Storm Approaches
California officials are bracing for the worst as a major storm moves into the southern California region. Office of Emergency Services officials have opened and emergency operations center in Orange County.
OES’s Frank McCarton says officials are worried heavy rain will create landslides in areas denuded by the wildfires.
McCarton : Any type of rain right now in some of these areas that we have seen can pose a great threat and people that live in these areas should be aware of that threat. I encourage all resident that live in Southern California to prepare themselves for these rains and potential mud slides and debris flows.
San Diego County could get between one and three inches of rain with some areas in the foothills getting even more. National Weather Service forecasters say the wet stuff should start falling overnight.
