Sean Penn's drama Into the Wild leads Critic Choice noms (Paramount Vantage)
The Broadcast Film Critics (of which I'm a member but don't blame me for The Bee Movie or Ryan Gosling nominations or the fact that Tommy Lee Jones is absent) has just announced their nominations for the films of 2007. Into the Wild , based on the true story of Christopher McCandless, who walked away from a life of ease to hitchhike to Alaska to live in the wild, led the nominations with seven. Juno, a comedy about a pregnant teen, received six nominations, while Atonement, Michael Clayton, No country for Old Men, Sweeney Todd and Hairspray nabbed five each. The awards ceremony will be broadcast on VH1 on Monday January 7 at 9:00 pm.
The New York Film Critics just bestowed a heap of awards to Joel and Ethan Coen's crime drama No Country for Old Men on Monday. It won best picture, director, screenplay and supporting actor for Javier Bardem.
