A newly freed Cynthia Sommer has sharp words for San Diego County's district attorney. Sommer was released from jail last night after Bonnie Dumanis dropped the murder case against her. KPBS reporter Andrew Phelps has more.
Sommer says she barely slept on her first night of freedom. She spent more than two years in jail after being convicted of poisoning her Marine husband with arsenic. Prosecutors now say the evidence was tainted.
Sommer came under scrutiny for her party lifestyle and cosmetic surgery after the death. She says Dumanis punished her for not grieving the way a widow is supposed to.
Sommer: You know, if I would have done everything that the DA wanted me to do and grieved how she wanted me to do ... then she would have said, you know, I had played the perfect role, and we would have still been where we are today.
Sommer says her attorney fees have reached half-a-million dollars, but she hasn't decided whether to sue the county. First, she says she'd like to get a haircut and go shopping.
