Authoritesin Tijuana are investigating two state policemen in connection with Saturday's bloody shootout. Authorities say a municipal policeman is among the dead in the gun battle between rival drug gangs. KPBS Reporter Amy Isackson has the story.
Police investigators in Tijuana are looking into whether a pair of state police officials participated in Saturday's bloody gun battle.
The shootout was one of the worst in recent border history and claimed 13 lives.
Baja California's Attorney General said in a press release that a police car found at the scene is assigned to one of the state policemen now under investigation. The Attorney General says they found the policeman's guns inside the car. The release did not say what ties the other policeman to the crime.
Both agents haven't shown up for work since Sunday. The Attorney General says their families don't know where they are either.
So far, authorities have identified four of Saturday's dead. Three have prior criminal records.
Authorities have still not said who or what's to blame for Saturday's killings.
However, its widely believed a power struggle between members of Tijuana's Arellano Felix Drug Cartel led to the carnage.
