San Diego voters may have a chance to decide if they want to ban alcohol permanently from city beaches. Councilmen Scott Peters and Kevin Faulkner say they want the issue to be on the ballot next November. Peters says the time and money police used to spend dealing with drunk people can now be spent on other issues.
Peters: This has been such an emotional issue, it's already gone to the ballot by referendum. Kevin and I feel that this is the kind of thing that should be decided by the voters. And after a good year of information about how this has gone, people have a chance to weigh in.
The City Council will decide next week whether to place the proposal on the November ballot.
