Maureen Cavanaugh: Last week, the Disney company chose Los Angeles over San Diego as the new home port for its cruise ship "Disney Wonder." If you are one of the people concerned about the downtown harbor becoming too crowded with cruise ships, you were probably happy to hear that news. But many others, especially those associated with the San Diego Unified Port District were not. They say San Diego was at a disadvantage in the competition. The San Pedro port that got the ship has a state of the art ship terminal. Just the kind of terminal the San Diego port district is asking the Coastal Commission to approve for the Broadway Pier. The Coastal Commission could decide on the project as early as this week, and KPBS Metro reporter Katie Orr is here to tell us about the proposed cruise-ship terminal.
