Santa Ana Winds, Fire Danger Return To S.D.

Gusty Santa Ana winds and low humidities prompted a red flag warning today for the mountains and inland valleys of San Diego County, forecasters said.

The warning, which signals a high risk of wildfire, went into effect at 3 a.m. and will expire at 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The agency forecast winds of between 25 and 35 miles per hour, gusting to up to more than 50 mph.

Forecasters said humidities will be below 10 percent for most of today.

Humidity levels are expected to increase by Friday afternoon, and winds are expected to shift direction and bring cooler air to the area.
