Holiday events around San Diego today will let you get your exercise in early, eat until you're stuffed like a turkey and then drive around and enjoy pretty lights when the tryptophan kicks in.
The annual "Run for the Hungry'' offers 5K and 10K distances around the East Village beginning at 7:15 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the San Diego Food Bank and Jewish Family Services of San Diego.
The event begins at 11th and Imperial avenues, near Petco Park.
The 10th annual Father Joe's 5K run begins at 8 a.m. at the Museum of Man at Balboa Park, with proceeds going to Father Joe's Villages.
The Salvation Army's holiday meal for the needy begin at 11 a.m. at Golden Hall downtown.
Later on, the 17th annual Holiday of Lights will open at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The event will include 400 lighted, animated displays along a 1.5- mile drive around the racetrack.
