POWAY, Calif. (AP) -- Crisis counselors and extra staff are being sent to a San Diego County school after a 12-year-old boy allegedly threatened to shoot 23 students and a teacher.
They'll be on hand Monday as classes resume at Twin Peaks Middle School in Poway.
Authorities took the boy into custody on Saturday and sent him to a hospital for evaluation. They say the seventh-grader sent an email to a Twin Peaks administrator on Friday night claiming to have 3,000 rounds of ammunition and several guns.
County sheriff's officials seized 11 guns at his home, including rifles and shotguns. However, authorities say they had been locked up and the boy had no access to them.
The boy's parents are cooperating with investigators.
