Thousands of seniors in San Diego County depend on food delivered by Meals on Wheels volunteers. Now, the organization is calling for more volunteers from younger populations at lower risk of coronavirus to help deliver those meals.

Meals on Wheels delivers food daily to more than 3,100 seniors throughout San Diego County and those deliveries won't stop amid the coronavirus pandemic.

While the nonprofit is continuing to deliver meals, the group is concerned about losing older volunteers and is calling on younger people to step up to deliver meals. Seniors are among the most vulnerable to coronavirus and health officials are urging them to self-isolate at home.
