Teenage recruit who suffered fatal medical crisis at Camp Pendleton ID'd

Military officials on Wednesday publicly identified a young Marine recruit who died last week after suffering a medical emergency at Camp Pendleton.

Pvt. Aiden Craig, 18, was pronounced dead at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside last Wednesday, four days after being stricken by an unknown ailment during a physical fitness test, according to the Marine Corps.

Craig was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, and was on day 47 of recruit training at the time of his medical crisis, USMC officials said.

The fatality remains under investigation, according to MCRD public affairs.
