Filmmakers Bryan Ott and Glenn Heath stopped by the KPBS studios to chat with me about their feature film debut, Reagan's Wharf (playing Septmeber 15 at the El Cajon Video and Film Festival ). Ott, who directed and co-wrote, and Heath, who co-wrote, graduated from SDSU last year. Their film is set at a local wharf run by Scott (Don Worley). He and Lee (Mike Burnell) once worked together but now they are on opposite sides of the law. Scott is haunted by the disappearance of his wife a decade ago. Lee, a failed boat captain, has now turned to illicit dealings to make ends meet. The past colors the present in this tale noirish tale.

Listen to more of my interview with these two young filmmakers as they talk about their influences, challenges on the set and working with new technology.

A big decision awaits some voters this July as the race for San Diego Countyโ€™s Supervisor District 1 seat heats up. Are you ready to vote? Check out the KPBS Voter Hub to learn about the candidates, the key issues the board is facing and how you can make your voice heard.
