Okay it's not a movie but my love of the Bard extends beyond celluloid. So I just wanted to highlight the San Diego Shakespeare Society's 8th Annual Celebrity Sonnet Presentation at the Old Globe Theater's Main Stage tonight, October 12, at 7:30pm.
In the past the San Diego Shakespeare Society has had blues singers, Argentine Tango, and renowned pianist Gustav Romero (who linked Shakespeare to Bach) providing diverse interpretations of the Bard's work. This year there will be some theatrical families: the Hollingsworths and the Myers; dance troupes Tangocentric and the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet; and Dr. William A. Nericcio of SDSU, who will present a sonnet in Spanish. Additional sonnets will be performed by Ron Choularton, Jonathan McMurtry, and Vanessa Dinning.
So join the fun and hear some of Shakespeare's sonnets (which are not often performed for audiences to appreciate) and see some local celebrities try their hand at the Bard's verse.
