I consider myself a zombie fan so imagine my horror when I took a zombie quiz on FaceBook and got stumped at a film called "The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue." View the trailer here.
Kudos to Paul Ashley Holdsworth, the person credited with creating the quiz "Name That Zombie Film." I was cruising along on the quiz till I came to an image I had never seen and a title I had never heard of. The film was a 1974 British horror flick called "The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue." The film also goes by the title of "Don't Open the Window" and "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie." After watching the trailer and seeing the alternative title of "Don't Open the Window," I suspect this film might have influenced Edgar Wright's faux trailer "Don't" that appeared in "Grindhouse."
Anyway, after overcoming the embarrassment of missing a zombie question I was tickled that there was a zombie film to now seek out. The film stars Arthur Kennedy and a leading man with a name that seems more suited to the sixties, Ray Lovelock! The trailer has such classic lines as a cop calling in for help and saying: "They're dead people trying to kill me." There's also a line by Lovelock, which, if I heard it correctly, is, "It's not my fault sergeant that Christ and saints are out of fashion. Satan's all the rage these days." Wow what fun.
Hope you enjoy this trailer, I sure did. "The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue" is actually even available on BluRay!
