Sometimes you have to pause and take in the singing trees. We love Megan O'Connor's clip of Terry Allan's "Trees" sculpture at UCSD for encouraging us to do just that.
As part of her day job, O'Connor is working on a podcast series for UCSD's acclaimed Stuart Collection of public art located throughout the UCSD campus.
Mary Beebe, Director of the Stuart Collection, and Mathieu Gregoire, the Project Manager, will narrate the podcast series, providing historical and artistic context for each piece as well as funny anecdotes.
The series will be available next month on the Stuart Collection's website and can be downloaded to portable devices so you can listen while walking through the collection on campus.
In the video below, O'Connor happened to be passing the "Trees" sculpture at a moment when the "marine layer was blowing away."
In her mind, it was a moment worth capturing. We agree.
The Stuart Collection podcasts will appear online next month. Megan O'Connor released her first feature film last fall.
