ANCHOR INTRO: This Saturday starting at 11:30am at the Birch Theater, FilmOut holds its quarterly film marathon. KPBS arts reporter Beth Accomando says the theme this time is Love Gone Wrong. Six films, twelve hours, and no happy endings. That’s what FilmOut’s latest film marathon Love Gone Wrong serves up with a mix of San Diego premieres and trashy classics. A pair of Michael Douglas films provide cautionary tales about letting impulsive carnal desires outweigh reason. In “Fatal Attraction” Glenn Close is a one night stand that turns psycho stalker, and in “Basic Instinct” Sharon Stone proves that murder suspects don’t make the best lovers. The cream of the vintage trash is Russ Meyer’s high camp cult favorite “Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.” The trailer sums it up. CLIP It’s all here: love, rape, murder, dope, grass, abortion, suicide… something for everybody. Now hold it man, don’t close your mind. This is what living is all about. The premieres at the marathon include “Solo” from Argentina and “Lose Your Head” from Germany, both about the dangers of not knowing who the person you bring home might really be. The third film, “Truth,” deals with an Internet encounter that leads to lies, deceptions, and possibly murder. CLIP Why am I still here?... You waived your right to an attorney. We need to find out what happened. You have an acute reaction to rejection… Did I do something wrong? Director Rob Moretti and members of the cast will be in attendance.
