A pollution alert was in effect in Imperial Beach today due to an influx of sewage-fouled water out of Tijuana, authorities said.
The warning encompasses beaches from the U.S.-Mexico border to the south end of Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach, according to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health.
Signs warning of contamination hazards will stand at access points to those areas until follow-up testing deems them safe again for swimming, surfing and other recreational uses.
