The statewide average price for a gallon of unleaded gas is $3.85. That’s $0.40 higher than it was this time last year. Matt Skryja with Triple-A said prices have been affected by global economic developments and by the actions of oil refiners’ in the US and Europe.
“There’s been some concern about decreased demand not only here in the U-S but also on a global scale and because of that, refiners have, some of them, have cut back on their output,” said Skryja
Skryja said California’s average price is the third highest in the nation, behind Hawaii and Alaska.
