Health Company Promises 250 Jobs For San Diego

A United Health Group company is planning to create 250 new jobs in San Diego by the end of next year. The company promises 600 new jobs around the state during that time.

Optum R-X is opening a new pharmacy order processing facility in Mission Valley in the next year, bringing new jobs to the region.

The company is expanding all over the United States and the firm's leaders said San Diego is a good fit for their business.

"It's obviously a good quality of life," said R.J. Correia, Optum Rx's senior vice president. "We have a great labor pool. And a high educational standard that an organization like ours, which brings in folks that are either highly educated or have good basic education, can be utilized within our services."

Optum R-X created 400 jobs in California this year. The company operates a mail service center in Carlsbad.
