Former Vice President Al Gore is taking his climate change cause to Silicon Valley. He has been hired by one of the largest venture capital firms to work on green-technology investments.
The company, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, has already invested nearly $300 million in bio-fuel and solar companies.
The idea is that Gore will help attract new clean technology companies, and help guide them through the political process. Gore, also a Nobel Peace Prize winner, says he will donate his salary from Kleiner to the environmental group Alliance for Climate Protection.
