RENEE MONTAGNE, Host:
And once we finish with schools, Catholic Church leaders can turn to another question. It's how and when to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
STEVE INSKEEP, Host:
Here's the problem. St. Patrick's Day comes in the middle of March every year, but the dates for Easter move around a lot more. And this year they overlap.
MONTAGNE: The holiday associated with parties and parades will fall early in holy week. The conflict was too much for bishops in Ireland, who debated this all months in advance, and they moved the feast date in honor of St. Patrick, the national saint.
INSKEEP: Secular St. Patrick's celebrations, however, will continue right on schedule. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
