Russia is sending more peacekeeping troops to two pro-Moscow breakaway regions in Georgia, raising fears that an escalating crisis between Moscow and Tbilisi may develop into military hostilities.
The Russians say they have evidence that Georgia is preparing to bring its separatist regions back under control through military force. Georgia's government denies Moscow's accusations, saying the Russian peacekeeping forces are siding with the Georgian separatists.
