Washington Post military correspondent Ann Scott Tyson was recently embedded with Marines in Afghanistan who were fighting the Taliban in Helmand Province, a stronghold of the Taliban.
Tyson began her career in journalism in Hong Kong where she covered China and Asia for nearly 10 years. In 1995 she co-authored the book Chinese Awakenings: Life Stories from the Unofficial China. She has been covering the Pentagon and military since 2001.
