San Diego County’s premier live music venue, The Belly Up in Solana Beach, is proud to announce a series of shows in November that will be filmed in conjunction with KPBS and San Diego State University School of Theatre, Television, and Film, set to air on KPBS in starting January 4, 2013. Focusing on the local music scene, each of these nights will feature two of the best bands in San Diego from a variety of genres (rock, reggae, singer-songwriters), and will include HD footage of the band’s performance, band interviews, DJ sets by local DJ’s, and lots of crowd participation!
Chris Goldsmith of the Belly Up and an executive producer of the "Live at the Belly Up" TV series says, “The Belly Up has been presenting great local talent for over 30 years, but we’ve never had the opportunity to broadcast anything at this level of quality. Thanks to our partnership with KPBS, San Diego music fans will be able to enjoy a world-class HD TV show about music from our own backyard that will be a lot of fun to watch.”
Hosted by KPBS’s own director of programming John Decker, the show is slotted to air Fridays at 10 p.m. Decker says, “We're thrilled to work with our friends at the Belly Up and SDSU School of Theatre, TV and Film to bring great live music to San Diego. KPBS is the source for arts and culture and it makes us proud to highlight local musicians.
