Cyclone Idai hit southeastern Africa in the middle of March. At least 686 people died and more than 600,000 were displaced in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Cyclone Idai could be among the worst weather-related disasters ever recorded in the southern hemisphere, according to an official with the United Nations.
San Diego-based Project Concern International is using its existing programs in Malawi to respond to the devastation there.
Richard Parker, who is with the organization, joins Midday Edition on Wednesday with details on relief efforts there.
