How can San Diego ensure equity when addressing climate change? That's the question to be discussed at an event Tuesday.
The event is being hosted by Climate Action Campaign, a San Diego nonprofit focused on stopping the climate crisis through policy action. It will include a keynote address by Assemblywoman Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) and a panel discussion on how to make equity a central part of the organization's push for a "San Diego Green New Deal."
Maleeka Marsden, climate justice advocate and organizer for the Climate Action Campaign, joins Midday Edition on Monday to discuss ways equity can be central to policies that combat climate change.
The "Centering Equity" event is Tuesday from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Malcolm X Library, 5148 Market Street in San Diego. The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP at www.climateactioncampaign.org is requested.
