The Military Times reports that despite a reported posting on Twitter indicating he is a finalist for the head coaching position at the University of Minnesota, Navy head football coach Ken Niumatalolo has not been in contact with the school and is not leaving the Naval Academy, according to Navy Associate Athletic Director Scott Strasemeier.

Ironically, Brady Hoke, head coach at San Diego State University, which is Navy's opponent in the Poinsettia Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium on Dec. 23, was in fact been contacted by Minnesota officials about that head coaching job, but has been reportedly been given a new, more lucrative deal to stay at San Diego State. Last week, SDSU Athletic Director Jim Sterk said an as yet unidentified, pledged $5 million to support the football program and help retain Hoke.

Meantime, Minnesota announced today that it has hired Northern Illinois coach Jerry Kill.
