The mother of a 2-year-old boy and 10-month old girl injured in a fatal car crash this morning is returning home to San Diego to be with her children. Debbie Harvey, the toddlers' grandmother, told NBC San Diego that their mom is in the Air Force and deployed in Turkey, and is being given leave to see her injured children.
Harvey's grandson is in a medically-induced coma at Rady Children's Hospital after the car he was riding in collided with another vehicle on I-805 this morning. The boy's sister suffered minor cuts and bruises. The passenger in the other car was killed. San Diego 10News reports that while investigators are still working to figure out the cause of the crash, they don't believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.
