The White House announced today that President Barack Obama will attend the "Carrier Classic" game on the USS Carl Vinson this Veterans Day.
The Associated Press reports Obama accepted the invitation from organizers to watch the game between the Michigan State Spartans and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels - the first college basketball game ever to be played on an active aircraft carrier. And yes, it's the very same carrier where Osama bin Laden's burial-at-sea took place.
Home Post reported earlier this week that Michael Jordan bowed out of serving as honorary team captain for UNC. He'll be replaced by James Worthy. Magic Johnson will be honorary team captain for Michigan State.
Tickets to the Carrier Classic aren't available to the general public. ESPN, the cable station broadcasting the game, reports 3000 Sailors will get free tickets, as will 500 troops from other branches of the service. Free tickets will also be made available to veterans and participants of the Wounded Warrior Project.
