Before the Iowa Hawkeyes go head-to-head with Michigan on November 5th, the team will take time out to honor the military. But it doesn't look like Hawkeye, dog of fallen Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson, will be part of the salute.
The Daily Iowan reports:
Home Post reported back in August that the Iowa Hawkeyes wanted to pay tribute to Iowa native Tumilson during one of their home games by having Hawkeye the dog lead the team out onto the field.
Tumilson's mother sounded torn at the idea, though, telling the Associated Press:
Tumilson was one of 30 American servicemembers killed when their Chinook helicopter was shot down by insurgents in Afghanistan.
