USS Montpelier after collision
The U.S Navy is investigating the cause of a collision between a submarine and Aegis cruiser at sea on October 13.
No crew members on either vessel were injured in the incident.
The propulsion plant of the submarine, the USS Montpelier, wasn't damaged by the accident and it was able to make its way to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay on October 14. The Navy will now begin to look for any damage from the collision.
The Aegis cruiser, the, USS San Jacinto (CG 56), arrived at Naval Station Mayport on October 14 as well, and Navy is evaluating any damage to that vessel caused by the collision.
According to the Navy, the Montpelier and San Jacinto were conducting routine training at sea in the Atlantic when the collision took place.
