The USS Ronald Reagan is scheduled to return to its homeport of San Diego on Thursday, after spending 14 months in Washington state for maintenance.
According to a Navy news release, the Reagan left Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Bremerton, Washington on March 18, en route to California.
Reagan’s commanding officer, Capt. Thom Burke, said of the return to San Diego:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be going back to Southern California. Our crew has put in a significant amount of effort over the last year to ensure this ship is ready and able to do our nation’s work, and they are definitely ready to head home.”
The aircraft carrier is expected to arrive at Naval Air Station North Island early Thursday evening.
