At least 15 people were injured Thursday morning when a 12-foot-tall eucalyptus fell at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, according to City News Service.
MCRD spokeswoman Janice Hagar told CNS:
At least some of the victims, most of whom suffered minor injuries, were civilians in the area to watch Marine Corps cadets jog by while taking part in a pre-graduation "motivational run."
Friday is Graduation Day at MCRD San Diego.
The Associated Press reports none of the injuries were life-threatening. Two of those who suffered injuries were taken to local hospitals.
Investigators are looking into why the tree fell.
