Three U.S. service members were killed Tuesday in eastern Afghanistan when a suicide bomber riding a donkey detonated his explosives.
Wardak province spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Stars and Stripes that the three troops who died were walking with Afghan soldiers on foot patrol when a man riding a donkey approached them and blew himself up.
An Afghan official reported to NBC News that the three NATO International Security members who died in the blast were American. An Afghan translator was also killed in the bombing.
