The Navy relieved Capt. Wayne R. Brown of his duties as commanding officer of the USS Boxer on Sept. 29.

According to a Navy news release, Brown's firing resulted from "a command investigation into Equal Opportunity concerns, and is not tied to a specific event."

The deputy commodore of Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 1, Capt. Keith Moore, has been temporarily assigned as commanding officer of the USS Boxer.
