Navy Fires Commanding Officer Of San Diego-Based USS Boxer

The Navy relieved Capt. Wayne R. Brown of his duties as commanding officer of the USS Boxer on Sept. 29.

According to a Navy news release, Brown's firing resulted from "a command investigation into Equal Opportunity concerns, and is not tied to a specific event."

The deputy commodore of Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 1, Capt. Keith Moore, has been temporarily assigned as commanding officer of the USS Boxer.

The Navy has temporarily reassigned Brown to Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
