A wildfire spread across a brushy artillery range at Camp Pendleton Monday, charring hundreds of open acres but posing no structural threats, authorities said.
The blaze erupted around midday in an undeveloped area at the North County Marine Corps station. As of late afternoon, it had blackened roughly 350 acres but remained a safe distance from structures, according to base officials.
It was unclear if the fire was sparked by ordnance or some other cause.
