U.S. troops are still searching for three American soldiers believed captured by an al-Qaida-affiliated group during an ambush south of Baghdad Saturday. Four soldiers were killed in the attack. Army officials confirm that all seven men were members of the 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Drum.
More than 130 10th Mountain Division soldiers have died in Iraq and Afghanistan; hundreds more have been wounded. A homecoming at the base in Watertown, N.Y., was planned for a small unit returning from Afghanistan Tuesday night.
Several thousand of the base's soldiers are training to return to Iraq later this summer.
