White House Responds to Carter's Hamas Meeting

Former President Jimmy Carter met unofficially with leaders of Hamas last weekend, a group categorized by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization. Carter said discussions with Hamas are essential to the ongoing Mideast peace process.
