Mitt Romney was added Tuesday to the schedule of a three-day meeting of the Republican National Committee that begins Wednesday at the Hotel del Coronado.
Romney, who owns a home in La Jolla, is reportedly mulling another run for the presidency next year after failing to oust Barack Obama in 2012.
According to a schedule provided by the RNC, Romney will provide "brief remarks" Friday night at an event aboard the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum in San Diego.
Following a series of closed business meetings Wednesday, potential presidential candidates like Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Dr. Ben Carson will speak to RNC attendees on Thursday and Friday.
If he does get in the race, Romney could face a crowded field, because New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush are also having presidential aspirations.
San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, who caught the attention of national GOP officials after winning office last February, is scheduled to speak to the group on Friday.
The theme of the meeting is "Building on Success." Republicans took control of the Senate, added to its House of Representatives majority and made gains in many statehouses in November's general election.
