Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is scheduled to bring his GOP presidential campaign to San Diego on Monday.

Cruz also campaigned in California last week in an effort to boost his campaign profile ahead of the Golden State's June 7 primary.

Donald Trump leads Cruz, 39 percent to 32 percent, in the latest Field Poll of state voters. Cruz is hoping to gain enough delegates to prevent Trump from clinching the nomination before the Republican convention.

The Republican Party of San Diego County scheduled a rally for Cruz Monday at 6 p.m. at the Town & Country Resort in Mission Valley.

According to the county GOP, the event is free, but RSVPs are requested. Parking is $5.
