3:22 PM - A brush fire burned at least 11 1/2 acres today on a hilltop just north of Grossmont College, but no one was hurt, authorities said.
The blaze began about 11 a.m. north of Grossmont College Drive and west of state Route 125, a Heartland fire dispatcher said.
Activities at the community college continued as normal as the flames burned toward the north, away from campus. There are fewer classes at the college on Friday than other days of the week. The fall semester began this week.
Helicopter crews and air tankers made water drops on the flames, but it was not immediately clear if any structures were damaged.
12:18 PM - The fire has burned at least 15 acres on the hillside north of the campus of Grossmont College.
Flames moved away from campus into Santee, toward the 8900 block of Clifford Heights Road, according to a spokeswoman with the city of El Cajon.
