A Massachusetts man picked up in Vista on outstanding warrants involving a homicide and a weapons violation waived his right today to an extradition hearing.
Daniel Katusich was taken into custody, along with three other men, on Wednesday by the North County Gang Task Force.
Katusich, 23, who allegedly belongs to a white supremacist gang, was the subject of warrants issued in Yarmouth, Mass., on Cape Cod.
In one of the warrants, dated July 29, he was wanted for failing to appear as a material witness before a grand jury investigating a homicide, Deputy District Attorney E. Jane Via said.
Details of the murder were not available.
The other warrant charges him with a 2009 offense of carrying a firearm without a license, Via said.
Massachusetts investigators informed gang task force members that Katusich was believed to be around San Diego, in the company of 23-year-old Kenneth Ludwig.
Both were spotted Wednesday by members of the task force outside an apartment at 1550 S. Santa Fe Avenue in Vista, and were taken into custody without incident, San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Scott Miedecke said.
Ludwig was booked on suspicion of harboring a fugitive.
The sergeant said a search of the apartment turned up narcotics and a stolen firearm. The residents -- Jeremiah Cook and his cousin, Brandon Cook, both 23 -- were arrested, he said.
Judge David Szumowski ordered another hearing for Dec. 8 to make sure Katusich is returned to Massachusetts.
