Fire In Serra Mesa-Area Canyon Mopped Up In 30 Minutes

It took crews nearly 30 minutes to put out a fire that erupted in a Serra Mesa-area canyon, KPBS media partner 10News reports.

The fire broke out just before 1:30 p.m. in a canyon near the 8600 block of Hummingbird Lane.

While several homes were above the canyon, no evacuations were immediately reported.

Ground crews and a water-dropping helicopter helped douse the flames.
