A group of homeowners, neighbors and activists made a special deposit at a Bank of America branch this afternoon - literally trashing the place.
Couches, computers and broken furniture were included in mounds of trash collected at a foreclosed and vacant house in Mountain View that's owned by the bank.
The fed-up neighbors trucked the trash to the Bank of America branch at 36th and National in San Diego. Doors were locked, but the protesters were undeterred.
The trash run was meant to highlight the group's support for the proposed Property Value Protection Ordinance, sponsored by San Diego City Council member David Alvarez.
David Lagstein of the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment said today's action makes a dramatic point.
"We've left the trash here and are notifying the bank of the address and asking them to clean it up - and continuing to ask the city council to prevent this from happening and pass the Property Value Protection Ordinance," Lagstein said.
City Council is expected to consider the foreclosure ordinance this fall.
