  • Due to inclement weather, Sesame Place San Diego is closed tomorrow, Saturday, February 25. Sesame Place San Diego is celebrating the arrival of Elmo’s adopted puppy, Tango, with the park’s first Pet Adoption Weekend on February 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is in partnership with Petco and Petco Love Foundation. Guests will be able to meet rescue dogs from local partner shelters in front of the park and learn more about the pet adoption process. There will also be special appearances by Elmo and Tango!   • Pine Needle Basket Weaving March 19 from 10 a,m. – 2 p.m. Learn to make a basket made from long leaf pine needles, using waxed Irish linen, an assortment of beads or other embellishments, starting with a stone center. Topics to be covered include the differences between pine needle types, preparing the needles, waxed Irish linen, basket centers, embellishing your basket, and how to start and how to finish your basket. Students have the option to weave a basket, a pendant, or an ornament. Basketweaving is a wonderful way to recycle from nature and is also a meditative activity. No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome.
