New sleep cabins in Pacific Beach will soon house six people working their way out of homelessness. This group is already part of a program where they work to clean public streets, which includes sidewalk sweeping, trash pickup, landscaping, graffiti removal and custodial work.

Class Description: "Rooted": A Workshop in Image and Language is an interdisciplinary workshop that invites participants to explore several avenues of their creativity through poetry, watercolor painting, and expressive writing. Moving between poetry, visual art, and personal narrative, the workshop creates an accessible and supportive space for creative expression without requiring prior experience. The session begins with a short poem and a prompt, followed by a brief free write. Participants then transition into painting a watercolor, using simple, guided techniques that emphasize process over perfection. After painting, we will read a second poem and a prompt, and once again, participants will free write. If time allows, we will close the workshop by having those who would like to share one of their two writings read to the group. Participants will leave the workshop with two flash pieces and a completed watercolor painting. Please bring a notebook and writing instrument; all painting tools and materials will be provided along with water and snacks. Ricardo Rabines and Taal Safdie of Safdie Rabines Architects will present their firm’s design for the expansion of the Oceanside Museum of Art. This represents a significant milestone in the evolution of this local landmark, increasing the museum’s campus by 50 percent to occupy a full city block. The project preserves and adapts two historic Irving J. Gill landmarks, the 1934 former City Hall and the 1929 Fire Station No. 1, while introducing new gallery space, a dedicated education center, and expanded public programming. Spend a summer evening at San Diego Botanic Garden during Summer Nights on Thursday, July 9, featuring a live performance by local favorite Miranda Ramos. Known for her powerhouse vocals, rock-infused country sound and crowd-favorite singalongs, Ramos delivers an energetic concert experience that keeps audiences dancing from start to finish. The Spreckels Organ Society presents the 38th Annual San Diego International Summer Organ Festival, the largest organ festival in the United States, featuring the historic Spreckels Organ, the largest open-air musical instrument in the world, with 5,098 pipes of up to 32-feet long, and nine percussion instruments located throughout the building. This concert features “MusArt-Barcelona” with M. Teresa Sierra (piano) & Raúl Prieto Ramírez (organ) The summer-long festival – directed by Raúl Prieto Ramírez, Spreckels Organ Society’s Artistic Director and San Diego’s Civic Organist – takes place in the heart of Balboa Park, from July 13 through Sept. 7. These 90-minute, free admission concerts by acclaimed international artists are brought to the Spreckels Organ Pavilion each Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. by the Spreckels Organ Society. The concerts are free thanks to the support of the Society’s sponsors, donors, members and volunteers. Mary Kennedy, yes one of those Kennedys, third cousins twice removed; all of the tragedy, none of the money, stars in and wrote "Hail Mary, None of the Grace." But, no Irish Catholic story is complete without a mention of a good Irish funeral! Join Mary as she lays her mother to rest. Through her mother’s dying, Mary learned how to live. Hail Mary, None of the Grace is a roller coaster of awakenings for Kennedy, which has created the woman she is today. Mary Kennedy is best known for her recurring character New Fiona on the show SHAMELESS, starring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum. Kennedy was also inducted into the Shameless Hall of Shame for the final season for her portrayal of New Fiona. SHAMELESS was on Showtime for 11 seasons and now streams on Netflix. "Hail Mary, None of the Grace," was one of four shows named, Best of the Fest for Whitefire Theatre's Solofest 2026 in Los Angeles at the Whitefire Theatre.
